Job Description
Overview:
Drives yard truck (spotter truck) not requiring a class A CDL but a CDL is preferred.
Here's what you'll do:
- Inspect trucks per company polices and complete daily inspection sheets.
- Perform minor maintenance to the trucks and trailers as required.
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus. Hooks and unhooks trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
- Must be able to back trailers into tight spots and at tight angles.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Opens containers, using steel cutters, grinder, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Required to clean trucks on a pre-scheduled basis.
- Required to add diesel fuel to the trucks at a designated location
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
The employee shall take all reasonable measures and precautions to ensure compliance with 21CFR 110.
Disease Control: Any employee who, by medical examination or supervisory observation, is shown to have, or appears to have, an illness, open lesion, including boils, sores, or infected wounds, or any other abnormal source of microbial contamination by which there is a reasonable possibility of food, food-contact surfaces, or food packaging materials becoming contaminated, shall be excluded from any operations which may be expected to result in such contamination until the condition is corrected.
- Cleanliness: All employees working in direct contact with food, food-contact surfaces, and food-packaging materials shall conform to hygienic practices while on duty to the extent necessary to protect against contamination of food.
- Be aware of and comply with current good manufacturing practices regarding; proper food handling techniques, food-protection principles, the danger of poor personal hygiene and unsanitary practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-1 years truck driving experience
- Class A CDL with no restrictions is preferred
- must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- may require long hours including working weekends and nights
