About the Role

Description

Battle Ground Academy is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join its upper school faculty in 2026-2027.  Founded in 1889, BGA is a PreK-12th-grade college preparatory school located in Franklin, TN. Serving a diverse student population from the surrounding counties, the school embodies the core values of character, scholarship, and excellence in all facets of
campus life.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching high school science in an independent school setting, as well as prior knowledge of project-based learning and/or the design thinking process. More importantly, he/she will be comfortable teaching in a student-centered learning environment. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and advanced degrees are preferred.

Like all BGA faculty members, the successful candidate should expect to develop healthy and lasting relationships with students, inspire them to reach their full academic and personal potential, model the school’s core values daily, and contribute to the broader life of the school community. The candidate should be adept at engaging in S.T.E.M. conversations and have experience in developing curricula related to physics, robotics, mechanical engineering, and other S.T.E.M. areas.

He/she will join the faculty at an exciting time and will be instrumental in the ongoing progress and growth of the division.  Strategic priorities for the Upper School include creating a more innovative, inquiry-based curriculum that emphasizes the development of skills for the 21st-century learner, as well as igniting curiosity and a passion for life-long learning in every student.

BGA is the oldest school in Franklin, a remarkable city located just 20 miles south of Nashville. It has been referred to as “a small-town gem” by the New York Times. The downtown is filled with locally owned shops and restaurants, and Main Street is home to iconic venues such as the Franklin Theater.  Quaint, friendly, and welcoming. Franklin is truly a wonderful place to call
home.
