About the Role

This position will be based in an ALAM location in Asia or in the US depending on the allocated product(s). The Senior Global Product Manager is accountable for defining molecule strategies and associated action plans for each HVM molecule allocated to the position and implementing them in order to differentiate ALAM, make ALAM competitive and manage profitability in accordance with the defined strategies. For emerging molecules allocated to the position, the Senior Global Product Manager is accountable for defining and implementing the molecule strategy and associated action plans (stage gate) to achieve successful commercialization, meeting market needs and maximizing sales and profitability over the life of the product.
The molecule strategies cover safety, health, regulatory, environmental needs, strategic and financial fit with ALAM global strategy, control and optimization of the profitability, demand/capacity alignment, investment strategy, intellectual property, supply chain, manufacturing process and quality for product and package. Therefore the Senior Global Product Manager works cross functionally and interfaces appropriately with all ALAM departments and notably Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, but also with Air Liquide affiliates and third party suppliers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

  • Know-how:

    • Know the market: competition strengths and weaknesses, capacity, market prices by geographies and market segments/customers, possible supply chains and third parties involved. Interfaces with ALAM sales and supply chain teams, Air Liquide affiliates, technical marketing, and outside sources to understand the market and the competitive landscape for his/her products 

    • Know the possible technologies to produce, package and analyze

    • Train/inform the sales team of ALAM and the Air Liquide Affiliates plus the SAMs to allow them to sell ALAM differentiation and win market shares at the highest possible profitability

  • Product strategies:

    • Define molecule strategies and revise them yearly; communicate strategies to all necessary stakeholders within Air Liquide including ALAM upper management, Air Liquide affiliates management and commercial teams, SAMs.

    • Accountable for the implementation of action plans for all products under his/her control as defined in the product strategies; reports progress to the Product Management Steerco

    • Accountable for the development of emerging products through Stage Gate process and alignment with the adoption and ramp vision/forecast. 

    • Actively participates in supplier selection as well as both technical and commercial aspects of supplier management with supply chain and strategic sourcing teams.

  • Short-Mid term piloting:

    • Determine the guidance per molecule (revenue, volume impact, price impact) for the target and re-forecasts 

    • Establishes capacity and quality roadmaps and validates them with ALAM stakeholders (Operations, Quality, Process Development & Engineering and operations) 

    • Participate to the S&OP process and responsible to ensure that sales targets can be met

    • Interfaces with AL affiliates, CVD/ALD equipment manufacturers, suppliers and customers when applicable, to drive product introduction and/or understand quality excursion root cause analysis and corrections.

  • Business development:

    • Accountable to maintain and defend pricing and profitability per molecule; provides the proposed supply chain and pricing guidance for offers to customers (new business and renewals) 

    • Define and supervise commercial sales and marketing campaigns per molecule to be carried out by ALAM and affiliate account management teams

    • Visit key customers to get direct, first hand information and feedback on their product, and pitch them and their CIPs to customers 

    • Prepare the investment case if additional capacity is required or if the cost improvement plan requires some investment 

Performance measured by the following KPIs: 

  • Sales growth and market share per molecule, compared to strategy

  • GM% evolution per molecule in line with product strategies

  • TCO reduction roadmap ($/g) 

  • Stage gate development matching to customer status for emerging molecules

  • Asset loading for HVM and selected, important emerging products

Are you a MATCH?

  • Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) in a physical scientific or engineering discipline with 10+ years experience in related field

  • Language: English (fluent) oral and written

  • 10+ years experience in working on electronic materials, semiconductor processes or semiconductor devices with understanding of semiconductor industry culture.

  • Demonstrated financial acumen, facility in working with spreadsheets, and advanced understanding of models utilized to justify investments (IRR, NPV, discounted cash flows, etc…)

  • Understanding of analytical methods and experience in statistics and data processing for quality management. Understanding of basic statistics and six sigma principles preferred.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and excellent organization skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to report precisely and effectively to cross functional teams, multicultural teams and customers, remotely and face to face. Capable of effectively communicating with clear problem statements and reporting of actions. Able to decipher complex technical situations/experiments and communicate effectively as appropriate to all stakeholders.

  • Open-minded with strong critical thinking capability and adaptability to effectively interact with internal and external personnel.

  • Multi-level and multi-cultural interaction skills. Ability to understand and manage complex communication environments such as multicultural, customer-supplier interfaces etc.

  • Strong leadership skills accepting accountability for his/her behavior: follows-up on commitments, proactive in communication and identification/ reporting of issues.

  • Strong skills in multitasking, organization and planning to manage ever changing priorities. Capable of handling several projects in parallel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in scientific or engineering discipline

  • Recognized expertise or experience in air reactive, low volatility product manufacturing methods (distillation, sublimation, filtration, recrystallization) preferred

  • Product Management experience in the semiconductor industry will be preferred

  • Experience in product commercialization through Stage/Gate process

  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt training

  • Business Knowledge: Semiconductor industry customer processes, market trends

  • Experience in project management

  • Thin film ALD/CVD deposition processes

Travel - Must be able to travel globally as required for this role (Est 30% max)
