About the Role

Description

Responsible for attracting, compiling, analyzing, evaluating, and maintaining business loan and deposit requests and the business loan and deposit portfolio. Individual is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business services department, including adherence to KALSEE policy and relevant state and federal laws, as well as maintaining documentation and a strong relationship with current and potential business services members. Monitor and report business loan and deposit portfolio information to executive management and make recommendations for appropriate action when necessary. As member of the management team, attends all management meeting, providing updates and feedback related to the business services program.

  • Generate Business Loan and Deposit Growth while maintaining high asset quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships throughout the business community by engaging in activities that will develop centers of influence in the markets that Kalsee Credit Union serves.
  • Create and implement a Business Services strategic plan including annual goals. Review and evaluate progress with executive management.
  • Develop and implement new business services products critical to the success of the business services department and KALSEE Credit Union.
  • Interview business loan applicants, pre-screen loan requests for compatibility with KALSEE guidelines for safety & soundness and fit within portfolio. 
  • Gather and analyze loan and deposit documentation including financial statements, tax returns, bank statements, investment statements, collateral descriptions, credit reports, certificate of good standing, corporate by-laws, operating agreements, articles of organization, and related business paperwork.
  • Work with third party underwriter to secure and analyze risk, income, cash flow, and all matters relevant to approving/denying the loan; work with executive management on pricing and structuring the loan, collateralization, and final decision.
  • Chairman of Business Loan Committee and responsible for presenting new loan requests to business loan committee. Create and maintain business loan committee minutes.
  • Orchestrate the closing of approved loans with title companies and other entities as necessary.
  • Assure security interests are promptly filed and loans files are complete and properly organized.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with borrowers to assure compliance with loan covenants, regulatory, and financial statement requirements. Perform regular risk analysis of business loan portfolio and update business loan risk ratings. Inspect collateral as needed and document borrower contacts.
  • Report business deposit and lending portfolio information, status, and recommendations to executive management regularly.
  • Review departmental policies and procedures and make recommendations for adjustments to meet internal process, underwriter, regulatory and legal needs.
  • Loan authority up to $50,000 for business borrowers. 
  • Manage business support staff. 
  • Participate in the review and recommendation of business participation loan opportunities.
  • Review existing products and services in the business suite and make recommendations for new offerings as needed. 
  • Assist with collections and loan workouts as needed.
  • Cross sell other KALSEE services to business owners and employees.
  • Ensure that member transactions are being reviewed for compliance with Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering / Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations and participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in obtaining, preparing, and analyzing business cash flow, income/expense statements, market research, industry trends, credit and underwriting reports, government documents, and risk assessments.
  • Previous experience in generating new business loans and deposits preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years business lending experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Positive, upbeat personality with ability to deliver credit union message and business services products and services to organizations within our communities.
  • Aptitude for details and accuracy on forms completion, documentation, files, reports, and compliance.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to create unique solutions for our members.
  • Organizational skills to effectively complete multi-task assignments.
  • Conduct and dress oneself in a professional and business-like manner.
