Summary:
This position is responsible for the reliability, sustainability, and core functionality of the server and related infrastructure along with key applications and cloud-based platforms that integrate into that infrastructure.
Functions:
- Implement, maintain, monitor, and upgrade server operating systems.
- Implement, maintain, monitor, and upgrade telecommunication systems.
- Maintain and track systems uptime adhering to department and company SLAs.
- Maintain server, network, and computer hardware.
- Maintain user level access to systems.
- Manage physical access control and video security systems.
- Monitor system resources and maintain reliability of infrastructure datacenter and related resources.
- Provide disaster recovery plans and testing of those plans.
- Provide documentation of systems and related resources.
- Provide high reliability backup solutions and testing of system backups.
- Provide system outage response and reporting with root cause analysis.
- Purchase software and hardware and work with vendors for solutions and implementations.
- Follow industry and compliance best practices to maintain a secure and resilient enterprise infrastructure at all levels.
- Maintain knowledge of current technical and industry practices and developments through continuing education.
- Support helpdesk team with escalated issues and prompt resolution.
- Support on-call emergencies with response and resolution.
- Support IT team with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years’ college or technical school training or equivalent experience in information systems and datacenters required.
- Proficiency with Intel-based PC and server hardware required.
- Experience with enterprise network hardware including routers, firewalls, switches, and related devices required.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with current operating systems including server versions required.
- Ability to comprehend innovative concepts and products in the PC and networking area required.
- Good judgment, problem solving, and organizational abilities required.
- Effective communication skills required.
- Ability to work under pressure, with interruptions and time deadlines required.
- Ability to install hardware and lift PC equipment weighing up to 75 pounds required.
- Ability to work with dust-covered components and to access cables/connectors beneath work areas requiring bending, stooping, and crawling required.
- Availability to work outside of normal business hours (nights and weekends), as needed, for network, hardware or software repair, troubleshooting, updates or conversions to new releases required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, travel to all organization offices (including in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Dakota) and travel to vendor work sites required.
- Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise level, remain in a stationary position and operate a computer a majority of the time required.
- Ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and to move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation required.
