JOB SUMMARY: The Vocational Specialist provides evidenced-based supported employment services to consumers receiving Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services, who express an interest in returning to work, operating with a “zero exclusion” approach. The Vocational Specialist provides employment and education services, with an emphasis on the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) practice philosophy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a member of the ACT Team, the Employment Specialist will engage consumers around the idea of work using motivational interviewing skills and educating consumers on how work impacts benefits.
  • Complete a Career Profile to understand consumer’s preferences, wishes, dreams and past experiences and skills.
  • Assess preferences around levels of disclosure to determine the type and level of involvement of the Vocational Specialist.
  • Provide vocational support to consumers seeking employment, considering previous and new job development activities and using a person-centered approach.
  • Develop a plan for providing ongoing support once a consumer obtains employment.
  • Provide other mental health rehabilitation services to support the consumers goal of employment and/or education to include.
  • Perform administrative work through accurate and complete documentation of all services (billable and non-billable) in Credible by the next business day.  
  • Continuously maintain an average of five (5) billable hours for every working day after 90 days of employment (holiday, sick, personal and vacation days are excluded).
  • Attend all administrative, in-service education and other meetings as required; minimum of four (4) hours of individual or group supervision per month with Clinical Manager (team meetings count as supervision).
  • Provides periodic on-call evening and weekend coverage as part of rotating schedule.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
     

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related discipline. 
  • BSW require appropriate professional licensure One (1) year direct service experience in a social service setting with adults who have mental illnesses, substance abuse history, development disabilities and/or chronic health issues. 

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Driving is required. Must have valid local driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Skill in the use of computer systems (preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment) and MS Office products.
