Join our team as the Pre-Processing Manager!

This role leads the daily operations of our Pre-Processing team, ensuring donated goods are accurately sorted, organized, and prepared for retail success. The Pre-Processing Manager provides hands-on leadership, coaching, and accountability to a dynamic team, while partnering closely with New Goods, Retail, and Transportation to keep product flowing efficiently. Position Expectations: 

  • Oversee the Pre-Processing Team responsible for sorting raw donated merchandise into appropriate product categories for further processing or store distribution.
  • Ensure sorting standards are followed to maximize quality, efficiency, and downstream productivity.
  • Maintain daily production reports and ensure pre-processing goals are achieved.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members on product identification, category standards, safety, and workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain organized and safe work areas, ensuring compliance with all safety and loss prevention guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the New Goods Manager to oversee the sorting and pricing of new goods items prior to shipment to stores.
  • Foster teamwork and clear communication between Pre-Processing, Transportation, and Retail departments.
  • Ensure all activities align with GINM’s operational, safety, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality, foster teamwork, and represent Goodwill’s mission with professionalism.

Essential Duties:

  • Adherence to the attendance and punctuality policies of Goodwill.
  • Support coordination of product flow with Retail and Transportation.
  • Implements CARF standards and follows the Code of Conduct/Business Ethics Policy.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

Job-Specific Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of donation processing, product categorization, and merchandising preparation.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies and quality evaluation for retail items.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of vendor relations, order systems, and inventory management tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to maintain high accuracy while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 25 lbs. May be exposed to outside weather conditions. Mental demands are characteristic of support function jobs. Specific vision abilities include color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and peripheral vision.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises Pre-Processing department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, assigning work, evaluating performance, handling discipline and ensuring compliance with production and safety standards.


Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test. Individuals must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, dependable vehicle and a clean driving record.

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in retail, production, or warehouse operations, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
