THE ROLE
The Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for leading all marketing content creation and the implementation of social media strategies using data driven approaches with feedback. This position will help to prepare and implement all external and internal marketing and communications efforts supporting client growth for The Family Institute’s clinical practice and the Bette D. Harris Family & Child Clinic.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing, Communications and Social Media Management
- Leads social media content creation, including planning and developing campaigns, crafting content, collaborating with local creators and influencers, posting, and managing community engagement.
- Analyze data from Google Analytics and Salesforce to maximize marketing and advertising performance while staying current on digital marketing trends.
- Provide support in the planning and implementation of the overarching marketing and communication strategy for The Family Institute with direction from the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Manages and oversees all organic marketing content, including social media accounts and email marketing/communications for both the clinical practice and the Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic. This role involves creating and distributing content on a daily and weekly basis with an understanding of identifying target audiences and segmentation.
- Ensure brand guidelines are followed across all platforms and support communications development in collaboration with the external relations team and clinicians, including e-communications and other appropriate marketing content.
- Assist with the inventory, updating, and delivery of communication materials—including signage, brochures, website content, fact sheets, FAQs, clinician profiles, and related assets.
Content Creation and Strategy
- Demonstrates and implements a high level of independent creativity in the development of creative concepts and content.
- Film and edit video content, edit and publish written articles and produce other content pieces as needed. This includes concepting, sourcing creators, collaboration with clinicians, crafting brand copy and execution.
- Identify and develop meaningful and impactful relationships with on-brand influencers within The Family Institute (clinicians and students) and in the sector to support The Family Institute brand awareness and mission.
Website Management
- Responsible for all website updates including editing content, copy, photos, videos, clinician bios and more. This also includes monthly website audits and recommendations for site improvements to increase SEO.
- Ongoing management and audit of schema markup to maximize structured data coverage to enhance search appearance and support improved organic search performance.
Psychoeducational Events
- Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in execution all TFI marketing-focused events including virtual psychoeducational programs, in-person events, seminars, and webinars—by developing marketing materials, organizing event-related assets, and leading day-of event coordination.
Additional Support
- Run appropriate weekly data reports to track analytics and ensure that we are meeting our strategic goals.
- Other duties as assigned to better grow the brand recognition of The Family Institute at Northwestern University.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong grasp of social media platforms and publishing tools such as Sprout Social; website platforms such as Drupal and understanding of Salesforce or other CRM tools.
- Demonstrates strong ability to analyze data and trends with strong understanding of how to use data to drive marketing and communications strategy.
- Strong demonstrated experience and success in the development of social media content.
- Highly creative with experience in content creation and design software including Canva, Adobe programs, and video editing tools.
- Solid understanding of SEO principles and schema markup, with the ability to support structured data implementation and auditing to enhance organic search performance.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, including work with spreadsheets, data and other productivity tools.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and quickly pivot as needed.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and platforms and take a data-driven approach to work.
- Excellent verbal and written communications with high attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels of organization.
- Must have ability to work in team environment and autonomously.
MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing, communications or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated creative/content development experience

Compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: scope and responsibilities of the position; a candidate’s applicable work experience, key skills and qualifications, as well as internal and external market considerations. The pay range for this full-time, exempt position is $66,145.00 - $89,193.00/year.
