Compensation: $60,273.29/year plus excellent benefits including generous employer contributions to medical, dental and vision premiums, and participation in the Oregon PERS retirement system.


We offer an opportunity for…

A collaborative, equity-minded leader to serve as Instructor, Integrated Agricultural Science and Technology [Full-Time]. This Instructor is a lifelong learner, who is responsible for creating, assessing, and continuously improving the policies, processes, and practices necessary to: facilitate equitable student learning and success; deliver excellent service; and, accomplish the work of the Instructional Services division. This division includes the departments of Academic Pathways, Teaching and Learning Foundations, and Community and Workforce Partnerships.

This full-time faculty role reports directly to the Vice President of Instructional Services, in the Technology & Trades Pathway. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and be driven by a genuine desire to advance the College’s Mission and Priorities. Accordingly, the Instructor will provide excellent service with a focus on closing equity gaps in educational access and attainment, and will work to promote inclusive prosperity throughout the Columbia Gorge region.

The Instructor will primarily teach and participate in college activities in The Dalles and Hood River. Online and remote-synchronous instruction may also be assigned. Contract begins September 1, 2026. 


About the Integrated Agricultural Science and Technology Curriculum…

In academic year 2026-27, the Instructor will work to refine and finalize the program curriculum, cultivate relationships with external partners to support student learning on- and off-campus, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare and recruit for the program to start in Fall 2027.

The Integrated Agricultural Science and Technology program includes industry-relevant curriculum that prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies in traditional farm management and operations, as well as new precision agricultural methods that include use of drones and autonomous vehicles. Elective tracks allow students to choose to focus on business and leadership, science, or mechanics. The program emphasizes hands-on experiences, providing opportunities to engage with local orchardists and farmers in community-based learning projects and practicums. 

Two components of the curriculum are Agricultural Management and Precision Agriculture. Agricultural Management covers the fundamentals of crop growth and development coupled with an overview of basics in agricultural management and operations, use and maintenance of traditional farm machinery, pest management, and the science around climate-smart farming. Precision Agriculture explores new technologies related to drone and autonomous vehicle deployment, including routing, implementation, data acquisition and analysis, and the use of geographic information systems.

Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in north-central Oregon and south-central Washington. What you will do…

  • Facilitate, assess and maintain records of learning of students in the classroom, lab, learning center, or other instructional setting, including online and remote modalities, using approved course content and outcome guides.
  • Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices, as appropriate.
  • Advise students on matters of program goals and course requirements, including in scheduled office hours.
  • Collaborate with community partners to coordinate and cultivate student learning activities on- and off-campus.
  • Engage in regular professional growth activity, which includes participation in scheduled in-service and professional development activities.
  • Participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities, including development of budget, curriculum, and quarterly academic schedule.
  • Evaluate educational materials and equipment and assist in the procurement of instructional materials and equipment as related to program need.
  • Serve as a member of college-wide committees and other related activities, as requested.
  • Support dual credit instruction through collaboration with Student Services and high school partners.
  • Represent the college and the program to the community, business, public agencies and other organizations in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for departmental equipment; participate in periodic inventory, and provide for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
  • Promote their courses and programs for student recruitment, including support for advanced college credit activities.
  • Maintain college safety standards in work area, classrooms and labs.
  • Develop and use intercultural fluency to support community-led advancement across the college's service area
  • Use culturally responsive practices to benefit students, employees, and communities with historically marginalized identities
  • Dismantle systems and barriers in order to achieve equitable student success
  • Perform other related duties to meet load requirements, as assigned by the Vice President of Instructional Services or their designee.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements….

Master’s degree in the subject area (agriculture, agribusiness, horticulture) and three (3) years recent, full-time, nonteaching experience in the field; or equivalent mix of education, work experience, and/or demonstrated competency and qualifications set by licensing or credentialing organization in the field. Degree earned from an accredited university, and the candidate must be eligible to teach in the United States.


Preferred Experience….

Minimum of two years teaching in related area.  

Spanish language bilingual.

Experience teaching online using a Learning Management System (LMS), videoconferencing technology (Zoom), and HyFlex or other modalities.
