  • 0.6 FTE: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Based at our Ferntree Gully site on the lands of the Woiwurrung & Boon Wurrung Peoples
  • From $44.78 per hour + 12% super + generous salary packaging benefits up to $18,550

About the program

Access to Early Learning (AEL) is a targeted early intervention program within Each’s Child, Youth & Family Wellbeing services. AEL supports three- and four-year-old children from families experiencing vulnerability to participate in quality kindergarten. The program addresses barriers to attendance, strengthens the home learning environment, and connects families with the supports they need to thrive.

Your role, your impact

As an Access to early learning family worker, you’ll walk alongside families to help their children access and participate in kindergarten. Your work will reduce barriers, build trust, and create opportunities for children to learn and grow in safe, supportive environments.

In this role you will:

  • Match children to kindergarten services and support their ongoing participation by addressing structural, relational, and educational barriers.
  • Engage with families in their homes and other community settings, focusing on enabling three- and four-year-olds to attend kindergarten.
  • Provide individualised family support, including building parents’ capacity, strengthening the home learning environment, linking families to other supports, and addressing relationship issues or family violence.
  • Maintain ongoing child risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Monitor each child’s learning and development at early childhood education and care settings using established tools.
  • Collaborate with early childhood educators to support educational objectives and inclusive practice.
  • Establish and facilitate regular case conferences or support group meetings for each family.
  • Build capacity in the local service system, including mentoring educators and arranging professional development.
  • Participate in AEL Governance Group meetings and collaborate with Maternal and Child Health nurses.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and ensure compliance with record management requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive team environment and participate in supervision and team meetings.

Who we’re looking for

  • A minimum of a tertiary qualification in Social Work (or equivalent) and/or at least 5 years’ experience in delivering support services to families and children, preferably in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Current state-based driver’s licence
