About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee our 2nd shift machine shop operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in gear hobbing, programming and setting up CNC machines, and managing a team of machinists and technicians. The Machine Shop Supervisor will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the shop, maintain high-quality standards, and meet production targets.

What you will do:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the machine shop.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Train, mentor, and manage a team of machinists and technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and scheduling regular maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to machinery and production processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and maintenance activities.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Oversee the setup and operations of the equipment in the shop.
  • Develop processes to increase efficiency and ensure that finished products meet all specifications.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained.
  • Perform other duties as needed where skills match (assembly, maintenance, tooling). 

What we are looking for:

  • Technical degree or certification in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with a focus on gear hobbing and CNC programming.
  • Additional certifications in CNC programming, gear hobbing, or related areas are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Machine Shop Supervisor or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise CNC programming and in gear hobbing.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency in using machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a machine shop setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
