Description
Provides oversite and operational support for transportation activities within a 3PL environment. Monitors and analyze operational results. Reports analysis results providing recommendations for corrective actions. Ensures transportation goals are in alignment with company strategic goals.
- Ensures the Vision, Mission, and Values of the company are the guiding principles of daily business practices.
- Manage transportation activities for LTL (Less Than Truck Load), small package, and truck load modes.
- Manage compliance with service level requirements, cost targets, and carrier guidelines for customer shipments.
- Manage and resolve issues involving service failures, rate discrepancies, and carrier exceptions.
- Manage carrier relationships to support cost and service objectives.
- Negotiate carrier contracts in alignment with company pricing and service level objectives.
- Perform carrier performance level evaluations.
- Implement corrective actions for performance levels not meeting performance level targets.
- Manage the TMS (Transportation Management System).
- Trian company personnel in the functions of the TMS.
- Coordinate with the WMS (Warehouse Management System) team for system integration.
- Manage new customer integration to the TMS.
- Generate and analyze TMS reports to support company objectives.
- Assist the Sales Team in setting freight profiles.
- Assist the Sales Team in developing rate proposals and transportation solutions.
- Provide customer support to resolve transportation issues.
- Develop and maintain transportation customer scorecards.
- Present transportation customer scorecard results in coordination with the Director of Transportation.
- Participate in customer meetings for performance reviews.
- Participate in business reviews for transportation results.
- Analyze transportation performance levels and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Identify areas for process improvement and present recommendations for change.
- Participate in special projects as needed for transportation related matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management / Business preferred or equivalent experience in related field
- 7 – 10 years’ experience in transportation or 3PL logistics operations
- 3 – 5 years' experience managing LTL, small package, and truck load operations
- 3 – 5 years' experience carrier contract negotiations and relationships
- Experience with freight auditing and billing reconciliation
- Experience with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) connectivity and carrier integration
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in use of TMS platforms
- Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication.
- Able to create and follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Be able to lift and or move items weighing up to 25 pounds
