About the Role

Description

Allied National is excited to be looking to hire a Software Engineer to join our Development team! We are looking for someone who is excited to hit the ground running and take over ownership for system development. An ideal candidate for this role would have experience utilizing a combination of VB6 and PL/SQL.


Software Engineers are responsible for analyzing requirements, designing internal software-based solutions, and developing the software. as part of the software development process, you'll be expected to follow departmental Coding Standards, unit test your code, schedule Code Reviews with other team members, develop documentation for your code, record actual hours worked on each ticket, and deploy your code using approved departmental deployment processes to ensure a secure, stable, and rich user experience for all Allied staff.


Responsibilities include:

· Program/Test: Developing software code. Testing functionality and performance through unit testing. Adhering to coding standards. 

· Quality Assurance: Testing the resilience, performance, and functionality of new systems or products. Performing one or more types of testing (e.g. unit, regression, stress, data, etc.) and reporting results. Raising issues, concerns, or suggestions.

· Tier 3 Help Desk Support: Performing root-cause analysis on escalated issues to identify and document complex, undocumented and unidentified defects in one or more systems. Recommending targeted solution(s) to resolve all underlying issues. Working to cleanup and effect a fix, as required.

· Continuous Improvement: Working with IS Development Leadership and team members to improve the identification and troubleshooting of software issues.

· Communication: Consistently communicating – attending team meetings, one-on-ones and code reviews. Working alongside or in conjunction with other team members and IS Development Leadership. 

· Documentation: Developing documentation based upon given and found requirements and related code. Updating tickets, own and others’ code reviews, and the Development Knowledgebase as necessary. Create hand-off documentation for downstream Testing and Production Support teams.

· Mentor (Technical): Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Sr. Technical Resource for one or more areas. Training, reviewing other associates’ work, and providing positive feedback as able.

· Proactively capturing internal and external feedback from users, analysis, and administrative tools to identify problem areas or security holes and assist with finding solutions across the ecosystem.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a Software Developer.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing in either SQL, NEXT.js/REACT.js or Oracle Forms needed.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing in VB6 required.
  • At least 3 years professional experience utilizing software version control software needed.
