About the Role

Description

The Utility Solutions Lead Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and cost-effective estimates for temporary utility solutions on construction sites. This role works closely with construction estimators and project teams to ensure utility needs are met efficiently and within budget. The Lead Estimator also trains the sales force on using specialized applications for sizing and estimating and plays a critical role in maintaining project schedules through precise planning and resource allocation.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze architectural drawings, project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and utility requirements.
  • Estimate the quantity and type of equipment, fuel, and labor needed to support construction activities.
  • Collaborate with construction estimators and project managers to align utility solutions with overall project goals and timelines.
  • Ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and compliant with budget constraints.
  • Train and support the sales team in using estimation and sizing applications for job site assessments.
  • Review and validate estimates to ensure completeness and accuracy before submission.
  • Monitor and update estimation tools and databases to reflect current pricing, technology, and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to internal teams and clients regarding temporary utility solutions.
  • Track project outcomes and estimation performance to identify areas for improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a focus on temporary utilities (power and heat).
  • Strong understanding of construction site operations and utility requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and sizing applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
