Summary
IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice, that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. Duties include providing rehabilitation services to patients with orthopedic injuries and illnesses, and general rehab services to patients who fall within other diagnostic categories. Serves as a liaison between our practice and the surrounding communities and their educational and recreational systems. Supports the physician and staff members, continuously seeking new and innovative ways to offer treatment, services and programs. Participates in QA, UR, Outcome and safety committees within the Organization. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best patient experience possible.
We are searching for a standout certified athletic trainer to partner with a double-fellowship trained surgeon specializing in joint preservation and reconstruction of the hip and knee at our Westmont and Western Springs locations.
Responsibilities
- Promote excellent patient care.
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills to educate patients about their plan of care.
- Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI
- Takes an active role within the patient medical team
- Manage/coordinate clinical schedule(s) as directed.
- Assist with patient examinations and treatments.
- Order tests/labs based on MD/PA direction.
- Communicate with physicians, physical therapists, and physical therapy assistants, regarding patients’ conditions, treatments, and protocols.
- Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations.
- Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.
- Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient EHRs.
- Maintain, order, and stock supplies/inventory as instructed.
- Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages.
- Independently schedule and perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing.
- Return voicemail and email messages from patients and clinical staff in a timely manner.
- Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing.
- Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program
- New graduates are welcome to apply
- OTC preferred
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Must hold Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with DME fitting and application.
- Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
- Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
- Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
- Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day
Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
