We are currently looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join our restaurant team. The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the kitchen to prepare for catered events, including food preparation and maintenance of kitchen cleanliness. All work must remain within guidelines for health, sanitation, and safety. The Prep Cook prepares food that meets current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations by following established policies and procedures and ensures that safe and high-quality food service is provided at all times. The Prep Cook prepares all items needed for event, from chopping vegetables to making sauces and butchering meat, and may be asked to prepare items for another station or special event. This is a part-time, on-call position for an upscale catering business. Evenings, holidays, and weekends are a must. Responsibilities:
- Prepares hot and cold food (entrees, soups, salads, etc.) following established recipes for all meal services and special events
- Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
- Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
- Restocks food supplies and takes inventory when required
- Stores, labels, and loads food for transportation to event
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma preferred
- One year of relevant experience working off premise catering events is preferred
- Formal culinary training a plus
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to work well on a team with a positive attitude
