About the Role
Overview

We are seeking a strategic and analytical leader to join our organization as a Senior Business Planner. This role is pivotal in shaping how we drive customer growth through innovative services & support models, monetization strategies, and AI-driven experiences. You will partner across product, sales, and operations teams to design products and offerings that accelerate adoption, deepen engagement, and maximize lifetime value for customers.

The Services Strategy & Business Planning team leads Microsoft’s end-to-end services strategy, working across the company to drive a cohesive and competitive portfolio of services offers. As a Senior Business Planner you will play a central role in how services are designed, packaged, priced, and transacted at scale across Microsoft and our partner ecosystem.

You’ll work on the end to end lifecycle of services to crystallize strategy, validate market insights with research and financial modeling, evaluate packaging strategies, price services and launch offers that customers and partners can buy. If you’ve honed your craft in product management, pricing strategy, marketing, management consulting this is a high visibility opportunity to translate structured thinking into scaled business impact.

Responsibilities
  • Partner across the broader Microsoft organization to develop strategic initiatives for growth. You will define and document growth strategies and ensure the initiatives are aligned, well understood, and prioritized across teams.
  • Build and optimize business models for services that balance customer value, profitability, and competitive positioning. You will define monetization strategies, packaging, and pricing to drive attach, adoption, margin, and retention revenue.
  • Create data-driven insights through a deep understanding of customer, product, and services to identify growth opportunities and inform investment decisions.
  • Drive analytical decision making by sizing business opportunities, structuring pricing experiments, defining success metrics, and optimizing pricing, packaging, and portfolio positioning.
  • Innovation & AI Integration: You will partner to drive transformational initiatives embedding AI into our offerings, detailing the experiential and economic impact of AI.
  • Lead cross functional v teams inclusive of Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Services, and Sales to steer the launch and adoption of new services.
  • Create executive grade narratives with clear strategic recommendations to influence senior leadership direction; drive decisions and change management with key stakeholders & partners.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build business cases, create robust financial models, and take offers from concept to launch with measurable outcomes.
  • Proven cross functional leadership across various stakeholders including Engineering, Finance, Product Marketing, Commercial Operations, Legal, and Sales/Partner communities.
  • Experience launching products and services at a technology company and managing the lifecycle of commercial offers.
  • Experience defining enterprise commercial system requirements.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools and experimentation/insight methods (e.g., conjoint/WTP). 


Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
