    Job Description

As a Project Engineer for EV Infrastructure, you will be the technical linchpin for the deployment and integration of Our Client's systems at customer sites. This isn't a desk-only job; it's a hands-on role where you'll be the expert bridging the gap between cloud software and physical hardware. You will ensure that complex electrical systems, network infrastructure, and control devices work in perfect harmony to deliver mission-critical reliability for their customers.

If you are an engineer who thrives on diverse technical challenges, enjoys being the go-to problem solver on-site, and wants to be at the forefront of the EV revolution, this is your opportunity.

    What You'll Do:

    • Lead Technical Deployment: Take ownership of the end-to-end technical commissioning of Our Client’s hardware, including power meters, local controllers, and networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls).

    • Troubleshoot & Solve: Apply your multidisciplinary expertise to diagnose and resolve complex issues across electrical systems, telecommunications networks, and software interfaces.

    • Design & Configure: Interpret electrical schematics and network topologies to configure robust local area networks (VLANs, IP addressing, security protocols) and ensure seamless integration with site power systems.

    • Drive Collaboration: Work directly with a diverse set of stakeholders—from customers and installation teams to OEMs (vehicle, charger, electrical) and internal software teams—to coordinate activities and drive projects to successful completion.

    • Ensure Excellence: Maintain meticulous documentation of all commissioning procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to ensure long-term site maintainability and knowledge sharing.

    • Champion Safety: Apply and advocate for strict safe work practices, especially for electrical isolation and testing on live sites.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have Qualifications:

    • A Problem-Solver's Mindset: A strong, proven capability matched with a genuine passion for troubleshooting complex issues across multiple disciplines (electrical, telecommunications, software).

    • Solid Technical Foundation: A technical diploma or engineering degree in Electrical/Electronics, Control Systems, Telecommunications, or a related field.

    • Relevant Hands-On Experience: Practical experience in designing, commissioning, and/or troubleshooting industrial control systems, LAN network infrastructure, or electrical distribution systems.

    • Autonomy & Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently in the field while remaining a highly communicative and collaborative part of a central team, effectively coordinating with various stakeholders.

    • Location & Mobility: Based in London and able to travel to sites predominantly across Greater London and occasionally across the UK.

    • Agility & Commitment: High flexibility to adapt to changing project scopes and timelines in the fast-evolving EV sector, including the willingness to provide occasional urgent after-hours support.

    Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

    • Meticulous documentation skills, with experience maintaining detailed records of test procedures, configurations, and customer interactions.

    • An understanding of EV charging infrastructure, including familiarity with protocols like OCPP.

    • Direct past experience in the EV industry, particularly with charging hardware.

    • Knowledge of local and regional regulations (e.g., BS 7671) relating to work on electrical systems.

    Additional Information

    Why Join Our Client?

    • Impactful Work: Your work will be visible and critical, directly enabling the adoption of electric vehicles for major fleet operators.

    • Technical Challenge: Engage with a unique blend of old-world electrical engineering and new-world cloud connectivity and software.

    • Autonomy & Trust: We trust you to be the expert. You'll have the ownership to solve problems and the support to help you succeed.
