Job Description
A bit about the role
Join our Technology R&D Lab as a Test Engineer building the next generation of API-first, composable banking solutions. You will create and maintain automated testing for our IBOR (Investment Book of Record) platform — a multi-tenant SaaS system serving financial institutions globally.
Working closely with our backend engineering team, you'll design testing strategies for our serverless, event-driven architecture running on AWS, ensuring quality, compliance, and resilience as we rapidly deploy new features.
Your key tasks
- Design and maintain automated API testing frameworks using tools like Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar for TypeScript/Node.js services
- Build integration test suites for event-driven architectures (SQS message flows, Lambda functions, DynamoDB operations)
- Develop performance and load testing scenarios for serverless applications using k6, Artillery, or Gatling
- Create test strategies for financial calculation accuracy (performance attribution, time-weighted returns, position keeping)
- Integrate automated tests into GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback
- Implement test data management strategies for multi-tenant environments with isolated tenant testing
- Partner with backend engineers to define testable service contracts and API specifications
- Champion quality engineering practices including test coverage analysis, mutation testing, and regression prevention
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in API and backend testing for distributed systems
- Strong experience with TypeScript or Node.js testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Chai, Supertest)
- Proven experience testing REST APIs and asynchronous/event-driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with AWS services: Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration (GitHub Actions preferred)
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with engineering teams in an R&D environment
- Experience testing serverless applications and understanding Lambda execution models
- Knowledge of financial services systems (IBOR, portfolio accounting, performance calculations)
- Experience with performance testing tools for serverless (k6, Artillery, serverless-artillery)
- Experience testing infrastructure deployments (OpenTofu, Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Familiarity with LocalStack or similar tools for local AWS service emulation
- Experience with BDD practices and tools (Cucumber, Gherkin)
- Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS testing strategies
- Comfortable using GenAI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate test development
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for financial systems (SOC2, GDPR)
