Get to Know the Team

  • The Malaysia Safety team supports Grab's business markets and operations in Malaysia and is responsible for all safety-related aspects of the platform. Through development and progress to the business processes, and products, we are committed to making Grab safer every day as it becomes the everyday super-app in the region. As a team, we also help influence the strategic direction of the company by supporting the top management with safety insights and advisory.
  • If being always on the move excites you, this is the role for you. You will work on multi-dimensional and projects, with our teams and external partners to solve real-time issues, to deliver the safest experience for all our users on our platform.

  • Develop internal and external user safety processes
  • You will report into the Head, Platform Safety, Malaysia and be based in Petaling Jaya, working onsite.

 

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

As a Safety Assistant Manager, you'll have two main areas of focus:

  • 1. Strategic Operations
    • Policy to Workflow Conversion: Translate complex safety policies into scalable, executable workflows. You will deploy these workflows rapidly and accurately across the platform.
    • Project Management: Drive specific safety projects and partnerships aimed at developing early preventive measures. You will help shape the safety culture of the community through strategic initiatives.
  • 2. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring
    • Safety Benchmarking: Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and presenting safety data. You will closely monitor safety numbers in Malaysia to benchmark performance against internal standards and market trends.
    • Operational Monitoring Strategy: Define key metrics (KPIs) and methods for monitoring policy execution health. You will partner with Business Intelligence (BI) teams to build and maintain the necessary dashboards and monitoring tools.
    • Advisory: Provide customized safety advisory and data-backed solutions to management, ensuring leadership is steered in alignment with our safety mission and principles.
  • 3. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance
    • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and lead projects to optimize workflows. Your goal is to increase automation and reduce the operational costs associated with manual policy tasks.
    • Lead the QA Function: Define and rigorously implement the Quality Assurance (QA) audit framework for all execution teams. You will be responsible for ensuring high accuracy and policy consistency across the platform.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Experience:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Analytics, or a related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills:
    • Data Proficiency: Basic proficiency in SQL is required for querying data to support analytical decision-making.
    • Spreadsheet Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets is non-negotiable.
    • Pattern Recognition: The ability to identify and critically analyze quantitative and qualitative patterns associated with safety trends.
    • Risk Mitigation: The scope of thought required to develop complex procedures designed to prevent and mitigate safety risks.
  • Soft Skills & Leadership:
    • Presentation: Strong ability to present data with a clear narrative, with a desire to turn findings into actionable business improvements.
    • Efficiency Mindset: A proven track record in designing scalable processes and driving operational efficiency.
