Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 40 hours per week

Reports To:  Facility Manager & Business Manager

Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Facility Manager in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment at parish facilities. Including the property at 10703 Wurzbach Road and the Sports Complex located at 11121 Wurzbach Rd. Performs a variety of general maintenance to include minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting. Must be able to perform some janitorial duties as assigned. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes all Maintenance work assigned and responds to after hour building maintenance and emergencies
  • Perform repairs or general maintenance including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, janitorial and painting tasks.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of facilities and grounds, identifying areas of repair and maintenance as required
  • Maintains record of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Moves and assists in transporting furniture and delivery of items to and from various facilities/sites, including special events set-up and teardowns
  • Assist when needed the security of campus buildings including checking, opening, closing and locking doors and windows, activating and deactivating building alarm and responding to alarm calls after and during regular work hours.
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to detect malfunction and areas of needed repair
  • Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape areas: mow, weed, trim grass and shrubs, minor tree trimming and haul off, check as well as irrigation (sprinkler) maintenance.
  • Prepares, sets up and breaks down meeting room set up per work order request to include tables, chairs and meeting equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of facility maintenance items, and order supplies as necessary.
  • Directs and oversees Facility Maintenance & Sanitation staff
  • Directs and oversees work of authorized Contractors and technicians

 

Other duties

Other duties assigned may include but not limited to:

  • Assisting with Janitorial duties
  • Floor refinishing (strip and wax)
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Cleaning high elevated windows
  • Installing, repairing, troubleshooting security cameras and locks
  • Three pedestrian gates and two main entry gates including maintaining opening and closing schedule.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Two (2) years’ proven experience building maintenance
  • Strong organizational skills ability to plan and organize to meet parish goals and deadlines
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management

Preferred Additional:

  • Previous buildings maintenance experience
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing

Work Schedule: Flexible with work schedule as hours may vary based on parish needs.  May need to work on-call and on holidays.

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; and crouch/ crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. Lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions wet and/or hot, humid; high places; and work with various chemicals.
