About the Role

Description

Regional Neonatal Associates is looking for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with newborn experience to staff the Level 1 nursery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Full-time preferred. We are a privately owned group of 8 Neonatologists who employ over 25 Nurse Practitioners through our partners at University Physicians Associates (UPA) to cover the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMCK) 65 bed level III NICU, the UTMCK newborn nursery and other community Level I Nurseries.


University of Tennessee Medical Center: Level I Nursery

  • 5200+ deliveries per year and growing
  • Average daily newborn census is 30
  • Level III NICU adjacent to Newborn care area with available response team
  • 10-hour shifts with some half-day shifts available. No nights or calls are required.
  • Holiday and weekend schedule rotation with other team members caring for newborns.


Responsibilities

  • Daily rounds on newborns including admissions and discharges as appropriate with close supervision by neonatology team
  • Management of newborns requiring a higher level of care with the assistance of the NICU team
  • Interpretation of labs, radiologic studies
  • Understanding of how maternal health, disease processes, and treatments affect the newborn
  • Instructing Medical Residents, Physician Assistant students and Medical Students with the normal newborn exam and common newborn issues in conjunction with neonatologists
  • Option for precepting other nurse practitioner students

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Licensure and Certification to be in good standing with the State Board
  • NRP Certified or agreement to become certified
  • Newborn care experience preferred
