Description
The Food Services Coordinator / Driver supports the daily operations of food services across shelter sites. This role focuses on food safety compliance, kitchen assistance, handling food-donations, and maintaining basic inventory. The position ensures that meals are prepared and served safely, donations are organized, and kitchen areas remain clean and functional.
This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Food Servies Operations Manager with an hourly pay range of $27.50 - $29.50 DOE. The schedule for the Food Services Coordinator/Driver will be Monday to Friday with hours to be determined.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination and logistics: 60 %
• Inventory all Food Service Supplies, perishable, non-perishable, and service ware at all locations on a regular basis.
• Update all donation trackers.
• Ensure compliance with HAACP-based food safety standards.
• Conduct routine checks for temperature, sanitation, and stock rotation.
• Provide oversite for all food donations, from Food Partners: receiving, inspection, sorting, and redistribution.
• Support food storage organization and cleanliness.
• Assist with placing orders.
• Provide assistance to drivers for donation pick-ups when required.
• Participate in staff training and adhere to organizational policies
• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen operations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Driver responsibilities: 40%
• Maintain established Mary’s Place standards for safely loading the truck, managing separation of loads and completing donation paperwork
• Work closely with Mary’s Place Central Kitchen to ensure food is handled properly
• Log and report any issues/incidents with vehicle(s)
• Deliver food, and dry goods to shelters when needed as a backup to Drivers
• Perform basic maintenance and fueling of Food Service cargo vans as required
• Coordinate cargo van routine and required maintenance with Transportation Manager

Skills & Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Food Handler permit required or ability to obtain.
• Basic knowledge of food safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects at a time while ensuring accuracy (attention to detail) and follow through; highly organized; able to prioritize
• Proven ability to form positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and guests, and to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and as a dedicated team member
• Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, and professional; able to maintain a positive attitude, remain calm, and display a sense of humor even under pressure
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and meeting facilitation
• Ability to access and produce information on a computer and within Microsoft Suite
• Valid driving license and ability to drive a minivan or a cargo van when required.
• Willingness to take a TB test within 30 days of hire
Physical Requirements
• Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Work in varied environments including kitchens and storage areas.
• Willing to travel to multiple sites as required
• Evening pickups of food and supplies as needed
• Kitchen related work as needed including but not limited to food prep, cleaning, washing dishes occasionally when needed
• Ability to converse with and listen to other staff, guests and third-party vendors and suppliers in an effective manner.
• Ability to use a computer, mobile device, and phones to enter data
