Where creativity meets commerce, this role brings the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s story to life. The Visual Merchandiser supports the presentation, organization, and visual appeal of the Atlanta Botanical Garden gift shop. This role is responsible for maintaining attractive, guest-focused product displays that align with brand standards, seasonal themes, and sales priorities. Working in collaboration with Gift Shop leadership and Assistant Managers, the Visual Merchandiser helps drive retail performance while enhancing the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Presentation and Merchandising
- Create and maintain visually compelling product displays that align with Garden branding and seasonal themes.
- Ensure merchandise is displayed clearly, safely, and accessibly to enhance the guest shopping experience.
- Refresh displays regularly to reflect new products, seasonal changes, and promotional priorities.
- Maintain visual standards throughout the sales floor, including signage, fixtures, and feature areas.
Collaboration and Operational Support
- Partner with Gift Shop leadership and Assistant Managers to align visual merchandising with sales goals and inventory availability.
- Adjust displays based on inventory levels, guest traffic patterns, and event-driven needs.
- Communicate display needs, supply requests, or visual concerns to management.
Brand and Guest Experience Standards
- Ensure visual merchandising aligns with Atlanta Botanical Garden brand guidelines and storytelling goals.
- Support a welcoming, inclusive, and guest-centered retail environment.
- Assist with visual preparation for special events, seasonal exhibitions, and peak attendance periods.
Maintenance and Organization
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked display areas.
- Follow safety standards when setting up fixtures, signage, or display elements.
- Assist with light merchandising tasks such as tagging, folding, or straightening merchandise as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One to two years of visual merchandising or retail presentation experience is preferred. Experience in specialty retail, museums, or hospitality environments is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform standing, walking, bending, and light ladder work for extended periods
Technical Skills and Competencies:
- Strong visual and aesthetic sensibility with attention to detail
- Ability to follow directions and interpret merchandising directions
- Basic familiarity with retail fixtures and display tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet visual deadlines
- Clear communication skills and collaborative mindset
Work Schedule
- Part-time position averaging 20 to 25 hours per week. Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, or evenings based on business needs, seasonal transitions, and special events
