Job Overview
We’re not hiring just any paralegal. We’re hiring the paralegal — someone who will serve as the attorney’s right hand and make a real impact.
At David Fogel P.C., we’re rapidly growing and we need someone who wants to join in our momentum to help grow the firm and individually! We are the type of firm that takes our work seriously (without being uptight or stuffy). We thrive on a collaborative, high-performance environment — where reliability, accountability, and a good sense of humor are non-negotiable.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Commercial Litigation Paralegal who is experienced, trustworthy, and capable of managing litigation cases from client intake through resolution. This person should be confident, highly organized, self-driven, and great with clients — someone who is professional and easy to work with, and genuinely wants to be helpful. If you're the type who takes initiative, has good instincts, and wants to be an indispensable part of something meaningful, this could be your perfect next step.
What You’ll Do
You’ll act as a strategic partner to the attorney and own a variety of litigation responsibilities, including:
- Ensuring the attorney meets deadlines and is prepared for court and meetings
- Assisting the attorney with court preparation and appearances and maintain orderly, complete legal files
- Having the ability to fully understand the complete picture and status of files and to be able to provide a summary
- Client intake and onboarding, organizing new matters
- Drafting pleadings including complaints, answers, counterclaims, etc.
- Preparing and responding to discovery demands, subpoenas, and disclosures
- Drafting and organizing motion papers: notices of motion, affirmations/affidavits, memoranda of law, and exhibits
- Performing factual and legal research
- Managing court filings through NYSCEF
- Confidently and effectively communicating with the courts and adversaries, including opposing counsel and self-represented parties
- Regularly communicating with and providing updates to clients and help cultivate relationships
- Manage case deadlines and proactively maintain calendars and workflows
You’ll also support the growth and efficiency of the practice by identifying areas to improve systems and helping the firm move cases forward without missing a beat.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is: motivated and energetic; possess a sincere desire to learn and grow; a self-starter; always willing and offering to help; does not settle for anything less than excellence.
Here’s what else makes the candidate a great fit:
- 1+ year of experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant in New York civil litigation (commercial litigation strongly preferred)

- Strong knowledge of NY legal procedures, filings, and motion practice
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- Tech-savvy and fast learner — you know your way around a PC and can quickly learn new applications

- Takes initiative and finds solutions without being asked
- Confident, respectful, and reliable — you show up and follow through
- You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively with a team
- Bonus if you love pizza
