Summary


As a Shipping & Receiving Lead at ShipCalm, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of all shipping and receiving functions within the warehouse. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and ensures all inbound and outbound activities are performed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with operational standards and customer SLAs. This role is responsible for diagnosing and resolving shipping and receiving related issues, and providing exceptional support to both internal teams and external clients. This role requires a strong background in physical shipping & receiving operations, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch customer service in the 3PL industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates, ensuring all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist in overseeing daily inbound operations, including receiving, shipping, staging picking, and put-away of goods.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for team members, helping to resolve operational challenges and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor inbound service levels, ensuring timely and accurate processing within 48 hours of scheduled delivery.
  • Execute the 5 Stages of Receiving: Unload & Register (WMS), Sort & Count, Exception Resolution & Re-Work, Check-In, Finalize & Close
  • Oversee outbound shipping, including order staging, packing accuracy, labeling, and recording and marking orders shipped in required systems.
  • Proactively manage exceptions in receiving and shipping, including ASNs, damaged/missing items, and system discrepancies. Ensure proper documentation and client communication.
  • Coordinate all LTL/FTL/SPD shipments in accordance with dock schedule and customer SLAs
  • Prepare and manage documentation: packing lists, BOLs, shipping labels, and other materials.
  • Manage unscheduled appointments, missed deliveries, and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inbound activities such as inbound accuracy, receiving times, pallet processing, receiving SLA adherence, outbound order accuracy, daily close-out completion rate, and first delivery date adherence.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisor to define daily execution strategy and adjust in real-time.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture built on safety, accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Liaise with freight providers to schedule, track, and resolve issues with shipments.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and clients regarding shipment statuses, and missing/damaged items.
  • Ensure that inbound areas are clean, organized, and safe, and proactively address safety hazards.
  • Operate forklift, order pickers, and/or similar MHE (material handling equipment). 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes, reduce errors, and improve inbound operations.
  • Report to work in a regular and timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Experience level: Prior experience in logistics or warehousing. Previous leadership experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is a plus.
  • Education level: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey detailed information in a clear and understandable manner, in English.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to utilize the following software programs: WMS (InfoPlus), OMS (ShipStation), CargoShot, Slack, Click-Up a plus.
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Forklift certified or able to obtain state-approved forklift certification. 
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks in a manner that enables timely completion.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

  • Working in a seated or standing position up to and exceeding eight (8) hours per day.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Operating forklifts, order pickers, carts, dollies, and/or similar MHE (material handling equipment).
  • Bending, leaning, kneeling, squatting, and/or twisting to grasp and move items.
  • Using a calculator, mouse, and keyboard.
  • Viewing computer screens.

Schedule and Location

  • Schedule: This is a full-time position scheduled to work Monday-Friday, from 6:00am to 2:30pm, subject to change by business demands.
  • Location: This position is located at 8377 E Camby Road #194, Plainfield, IN 46168. 

Compensation 

  • Hourly Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00/hour, DOE.
