Position Overview:
The Cook is responsible for providing residents a high-quality dining experience by preparing a variety of foods from scratch ingredients according to The Cedars standards and expectations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm with residents, staff, and guests.
- Follows recipes and procedures as provided by Chef and/or Director.
- Prepares all foods, which may include meat entrées, vegetarian entrées, vegan entrées, vegetables, and starches.
- Meets serving time requirements.
- Responsible for pre-preparation related to upcoming food demands.
- Maintains food quality and appearance standards that meet customer and supervisor expectations.
- Maintains proper sanitation guidelines as set by sanitation training, policies, and procedures.
- Records and maintains production record book with accuracy.
- Checks and records temperatures on all hot and cold items.
- Ensures that all food is properly handled, wrapped, labeled, and dated.
- Checks with supervisor before discarding any food products.
- Respond to minor complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
- Follows chain of command while addressing issues of concern
- Stocks as needed.
- Stores cleaning supplies separately and away from food preparation area.
- Receive and appropriate respond to oral and written communications and direction.
- Communicates and exhibits the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Communicate problems and ideas to management. Bring solutions to your concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic food service knowledge. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Spanish bi-lingual capabilities are a plus.
