Job Summary

Under general direction, with some degree of autonomy, uses specialised knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to maintain and develop business relationships with assigned institutional clients. Manages most aspects of assigned accounts including advising clients on investment opportunities and recommending buying and selling of securities. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information. Works independently on complex assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity with substantial latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with institutional clients and fellow internal professionals to facilitate efficient and effective client service.

  • Disseminates timely marketing materials for equity products and services targeted at institutional investors.

  • Responds to inquiries from institutional investors about the department’s investment philosophies, products and services.

  • Develops sales goals and strategies to achieve goals incorporating suitability parameters derived from individual client investment policy statements where applicable.

  • Works closely with clients investment personnel, advises clients on investment opportunities, and recommends buying and selling of securities.

  • Generates new sales ideas and promotion of new products through written sales memos, proactive phone networking and client meetings.

  • Attends meetings and /or conferences to present Raymond James and its ideas to institutional clients.

  • Stays abreast of financial news/issues that may affect stock and bond prices.

  • Tracks and reviews performance on assigned accounts to ensure adding value.

  • Researches and analyses industries that are appropriate for assigned accounts.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Intermediate concepts, practices and procedures of research analysis.

  • Intermediate investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.

  • Intermediate concepts, practices, and procedures of institutional equity sales & sales trading.

  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.

  • Financial markets and products.

     

Skill in

  • High level customer service.

  • Identifying relationships draw logical conclusions and interpret results for use in decision-making.

  • Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers’ commitment to ideas, services, or products.

  • Quantitative and analytical skills sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.

  • Analysing and interpreting financial statements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of institutional equity sales experience.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
