POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Advocate coordinates, facilitates, and delivers education programs, prevention initiatives, and training focused on sexual assault prevention, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation throughout Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties. Serving as a key liaison between the organization and the community, this role strengthens relationships with local partners and empowers individuals through education, advocacy, and support.
By delivering education, training, and resources, the Community Advocate ensures that community members, youth, professionals, and local institutions are informed, prepared, and equipped to prevent and respond to sexual assault, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation. This position directly advances the organization’s mission to create safer, more informed, and resilient communities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Delivers a comprehensive education campaign to inform community members about human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and sexual violence.
- Provides consultation and training, designed to meet community needs, for professionals, individuals, and groups.
- Provides education to youth on bystander intervention, healthy relationships, warning signs of abuse, and available support resources.
- Collaborates with local colleges to deliver evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula to students in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties.
- Conducts community outreach and maintains a presence at health and human service events, college fairs, and other outreach and tabling events.
- Provides education and assistance to law enforcement and court systems.
- Maintains compliance with all agency policies and procedures and compiles data for grant reporting.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of Certified 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training.
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
- Experience in group facilitation and conducting training for small and large groups. Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to learn new technology.
- Understanding of sexual assault, local community resources, and relevant federal and state laws pertaining to sexual assault, human trafficking and exploitation
- Ability to maintain accurate statistical frameworks for program data collection and reporting.
- Ability to intervene in crisis situations using sound professional judgment, ethical practices, and a practical approach.
- Ability to work cooperatively with medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel.
