About the Role

Description

TITLE: Sanitation Associate

DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance Quality Control

REPORTS TO: Sanitation Lead & QAQC Manager

SHIFT: 9:00pm-5:30am

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for overall daily sanitation needs for the company.

REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining high levels of sanitation by accurately and efficiently completing cleaning assignments.
  • Demonstrates appropriate work habits, behavior, and communication skills at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, as needed.
  • Ability to work different shifts, as required to meet business demands and needs.

Routine Tasks:

  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize and reassemble all equipment as needed.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance of gaskets, seals and other equipment on all product contact surfaces as needed.
  • Perform basic housekeeping including cleaning floors, walls, ceiling, air vents and lights.
  • Operate cleaning tools and sanitize equipment, operate motorized pallet jacks and forklifts for lifting, dumping, transporting, and setting the trash cans or dumpsters down.
  • Use approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces.
  • Dispose of waste, deep clean floor, drains and other structures. Cleaning Ice Totes, carts, bins, and racks.
  • Refill soap and hand towels in the bathrooms. Assist in Inventory of chemicals and PPE.
  • Report potential issues to management.
  • Completion of Daily Sanitation Sheets.
  • Assist in completion of Master Cleaning sheets.
  • Monitor daily Pallet and Recycling Trailers.
  • Perform special projects, as needed per the business needs (audits, etc.).

Skills:

  • Able to work with a multicultural team.
  • Proficiency with Sanitation and cleaning requirements.
  • Able to read and understand Safety Data Sheet, chemical usage instruction.
  • Ability to work on own with minimal supervision – preferred.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Perform duties of the Lead during the Day when other managers are on vacation.
  • Special projects as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible, related experience in a position of comparable scope and size to the Company in the seafood industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have completed HACCP training program with certificate – a plus, but not required.
  • Must have great attention to detail.
  • Able to present HACCP information and respond to questions from employees, customers, and governmental agencies.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Able to speak Spanish a plus, but not required.

  • The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to loud.
