About the Role

Description

Responsible for providing customers with an easy, efficient, and accurate dining experience. Ensures a positive experience for customers by maintaining a clean, welcoming environment with beautifully presented food and beverages. Provides the highest level of customer service.


Wage Range: $18.73- $23.00 per hour

Full-time, variable hours, evening and weekend availability required

Requirements

Provides excellent customer service; Keeps alert to customer needs and practices a ‘sense of urgency’ to assist customers quickly and efficiently

Ensures that the deli case, coffee bar, and salad bar are clean, stocked, rotated, garnished, and appealing to customers during entirety of shift

Ensures tables and service areas in deli and mezzanine are bused, cleaned, and stocked

Keeps dishes, glasses, cutlery well stocked. Sends dirty dishes, glasses, cutlery to BOH

Keeps Leads and/or BOH apprised of status of case items and hot food items during high volume hours

Understands food allergies and is able to assist customers in selecting appropriate food

Understands and adheres to portion control policies such as ice cream scoops, sandwich portions, smoothie portions, etc.

Rotates, displays, and handles food following Health Department standards and Co-op policy

Plates and weighs food, using scales accurately

Makes made-to-order food according to established procedures (sandwiches, juices, smoothies, espresso, etc)

Delivers food to customers in deli and mezzanine areas

Works cooperatively and communicates effectively with Front and Back of House (BOH) staff

Knows the membership system and is able to accurately answer customer questions

Actively promotes the SVFC Membership Program to all customers

Communicates concerns and ideas to manager

Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Skills


Previous customer service experience desired; background in cashiering or retail grocery/deli industry preferred

Knowledge of organic/natural products helpful

Cooking/farming experience helpful

Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times

Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines

Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential

Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance

Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends

Ability to maintain current food handler card

Must be at least 18 years of age

High school diploma or equivalent


Essential Physical Requirements


Prolonged standing and walking

Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating

Regular fine motors skills work and gripping with hands

Ability to lift 20 to 40 pounds occasionally

Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.

Exposure to temperatures such as walk in coolers and freezers

Must be 18 years of age
