Title: Associate
Position Details:
- Location: Shanghai, China
- Duration: Permanent full-time position
- Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with some remote working options. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Beijing or Shanghai, including visa eligibility where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues and client teams to develop and deliver high-quality client-facing materials, including reports, presentations, and research notes.
- Support government affairs dialogues on behalf of clients and effectively represent client and Ankura interests with public sector counterparts.
- Contribute to the publication of weekly and monthly market intelligence products distributed to a diverse client base.
- Engage in client-specific research and analysis on policy issues and commercial developments impacting client interests, with focus on Chinese-language sources.
- Support business development efforts through insightful research that informs briefings and presentations.
- Participate actively in internal discussions and events, contributing to Ankura expertise in China policy research.
- Leverage Chinese-language media and academic resources to maintain a current understanding of China’s policy landscape.
- Provide operational support for colleagues with respect to engagement in platforms, preparation for meetings, and planning for events.
Requirements:
- A graduate-level qualification in international affairs, policy, business, law, or a related field.
- One to three years of relevant, full-time, professional work experience.
- International or internationally-oriented work experience in a professional services firm (including internships).
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Chinese policy and commercial sectors, coupled with strong analytical and English writing skills.
- Proven experience in strategic policy engagement, with participation in leadership programs and international dialogues.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive research and produce policy-oriented deliverables, focusing on geopolitical and energy-related topics.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across government, business, and academia in both China and internationally.
- This role requires fluency in both English and Mandarin, as it involves regular communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and partners. This language requirement is essential to meet business needs and ensure effective service delivery.
- Must be able to travel at short notice including nationally and internationally.
- Ability to work effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
