About the Role

Description

The General Laborer supports daily operations by performing a variety of hands-on tasks to ensure facilities, equipment, and work areas are safe, efficient, and well maintained. This role is essential to keeping operations running smoothly and supporting multiple departments as needed. 


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor duties including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
  • Assist with facility and yard maintenance, including cleaning and organizing work areas
  • Support equipment setup, operation assistance, and basic maintenance
  • Handle products and materials safely and in accordance with company procedures
  • Assist drivers, operators, and supervisors with daily operational tasks
  • Follow all safety, biosecurity, and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or maintenance needs promptly
  • Assist other departments as needed based on operational demands

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED. Prefer one year of background in operations, grain, feed milling, maintenance, or another related area but willing to train. 

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting, bending, standing, and working outdoors
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn (preferred)
  • Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day, longer during certain seasons
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel
  • Capable to do repeated actions
  • Effectively communicate with team members
  • Able to climb and withstand heights
  • Valid driver’s license is a requirement. 

Work Environment

  • Schedule: Must work scheduled days and hours assigned by manager. Must work full time a minimum of 80 hours per pay period. Extra hours will be expected as business needs arise.  May be on call for breakdowns that occur outside of normal hours.
  • Environment: Indoors and outdoors, some exposure to dust.
  • Travel: Requirements are limited.
