General Purpose: In an effort to maximum patient care results and optimize clinical functions, the Expanded Duties Dental Assistant assists Dentists with patient care services and dental operations.


Essential Duties/Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists dentist with treatment and care of dental patients
  • Offers chairside assistance to dentists for patient care services and other dental procedures
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for patients upon introduction and entry to the dental clinic
  • Provides dual customer service efforts to the dentist and to dental patients
  • Expected to have dental set-up ready when dentist enters room
  • Performs special treatment procedures in the areas of Pedodontic, Endodontic, Prosthetic, Periodontics dentistry
  • Guides dental assistants in organizing and stocking operatories with the appropriate dental instruments and material
  • Performs unsupervised dental procedures to include: impressions, fillings, nitrous oxide administration, children prophylaxis and other treatment procedures as requested
  • Sterilizes and prepares all dental instruments, equipment, and other materials for daily use
  • Completes daily spore tests, cleaning, x-ray processing equipment, and dental evacuation traps
  • Capable of disinfecting and pouring impressions
  • Coordinates the receipt of laboratory cases with patient appointment time
  • Assists dental management with administrative tasks and logistical functions
  • Enters patient health data into the electronic medical records system (EMR) database

Non-Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Attends all staff meetings and all other meetings as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma/GED.
  • Required: Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program.
  • Required: Expanded Duty Dental Assisting Certificate.
  • Dental Assistant Radiology certificate preferred.
  • Required: Active BLS Certification.
  • Developmental experience in a clinical setting as a chair side dental assistant.
  • Previous experience working as an EDDA in a clinical setting is preferred.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Ability to interact positively and build rapport with patients, coworkers and/or external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to demonstrate the capability to effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDEs diverse patient population.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to diffuse upset patients.
  • Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internet and MS Office Products.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
  • Ability to protect the confidentiality of patient, employee and business information

Tools you’ll use:

General dental instruments, x ray technology, radiology equipment, computer, printer, multi-line telephone systems, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, and all Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and the internet.


Working Environment and Physical Activities:

Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters data into computer programs via use of EMR database system, mouse and keyboard. Moves about the office environment and occasionally to other locations. Moves/transports objects up to 25 lbs occasionally. Communicates information to others. Discerns/analyzes information from others to assist in decision making.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts (8:30am - 5:00pm)! No Weekends!


We offer a competitive hourly range of $24.00 - $29.70, depending on your experience. 

This range reflects STRIDE’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, specialty, and training.
