About the Role

Description

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead and manage the financial operations of GasTech Engineering LLC. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, producing timely financial reports, and implementing robust controls to mitigate risk. The Controller will ensure compliance with GAAP, oversee financial systems, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions. Our goal is to establish GasTech’s accounting department as the most respected in the industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the accounting team, including the Accounting Administrative Assistant and Staff Accountant.
  • Manage monthly closing processes and prepare accurate financial reports.
  • Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and collection of accounts receivable.
  • Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with payroll tax reporting.
  • Serve as the onsite owner of ERP/financial reporting systems, ensuring data integrity and usability.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and financial reporting systems in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and accounting transaction controls.
  • Issue timely and accurate financial statements and variance reports.
  • Provide financial analysis and modeling to support business decisions.
  • Drive process improvements and share best practices across the accounting team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required and an MBA and/or CPA is preferred. 
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including 3 years in a management/supervisory role is required. Experience in a manufacturing business environment is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and financial capabilities commensurate with this position are required. 
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Excel/MS Office, and MRP/ERP systems is required.
  • Previous experience with monthly closing/financial reporting, a thorough understanding of accounting for long-term contracts/percentage of completion methodology, and a well-rounded understanding of the energy business are strongly preferred but not required. 
  • A high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of results-oriented urgency is required. 
  • Strong leadership, team delegation of tasks, departmental planning, and decision-making skills are required.
  • The ability to perform tasks accurately with keen attention to detail is required.
  • The ability to work safely, especially while in our shop area, is required.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is preferred.
