Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with Pharmacist: Translating, follow-up calls, verifying/changing appointments EPIC, Insulin (vial/pen) & Glucometer teaching.
  • Pharmacy management system (Pioneer work-flow): ensuring that the Pioneer system works accurately including Inventory module; Liaison between IT and Cerner to solve any issues affecting pharmacy work-flow.
  • Procurement (medication, IUD, Vials, Control Prescription Pad, Labels, Vaccines for clinic, Office supply) and inventory management: ensure that adequate orders are placed for our 3 clinics; manage inventory to ensure that all drugs are accounted for including periodic spot checking of quantities on the shelves. (AmerisourceBergen (340B), Office Depot, Vaccine Shoppe and Therocom (340B)).
  • Compiling Invoices and Coding Invoices
  • 340B program management: Well partner and Walgreens weekly verifications on any 340B clam in question.
  • Assisting Pharmacy Manager in preparing all documentation requested by auditors.
  • Contracting & Following up on status of contracts with insurances PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager): LA Care, Health Net, Molina, Anthem, Care 1st, Optum, DST etc.
  • Processing prescriptions: Deciphering Rx, Typing, Billing, Filling and Dispensing.
  • Assisting Patients and Providers with non-formulary medications and Rejections: PAP (Patient Assistance Program), PA (Prior Authorizations), calling PBM for early overwrite, Vacation Overwrite and calling PBM to check on formulary
  • EMR management: verifying patient data EPIC (Demographics, medications, appointments, referral and encounters).
  • Initiate Patients Assistance Programs (PAPs) applications and documentation for appropriate medications.
  • Manage medication orders including receiving, logging, labeling, and stocking.
  • Answer and address incoming calls, inputting requests from the patient into the EHR system.
  • Provide backup clerical support to the Pharmacy Technicians

Position Requirements:

  • Pharmacy Technician License
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
