About the Role

UPMC Corporate is seeking a Pharmacist Information Specialist to join our team. This hybrid role combines onsite work at our South Side location with regional travel to UPMC hospitals to support project needs. The position is scheduled for Monday through Friday daylight hours and also includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule, which may involve evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The role serves as a subject matter expert for pharmacy automation technologies and medication-use systems across the organization. This role supports the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of automated pharmacy workflows in collaboration with pharmacy operations, IT, and external vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure quality of information through testing 
  • Design and document system functional requirements for use in such deliverables as Request for Proposals, customization, scope documents.  
  • Evaluate and document Pharmacy/UPMC needs both operation and financial which includes current process analysis and proposals for revisions to optimize business. 
  • Provide onboarding troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of production applications which includes 24/7 on call coverage.
  • Review and maintain formularies as required. 
  • Work with outside department and vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement solutions. 

 

 



  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) required.  
  • Three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience.  Previous experience with pharmacy informatics procedures and pharmacy information systems/applications is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
