About the Role

UPMC is looking to hire an Intermediate Cloud Engineer with an automation and development focus to work within the Corporate Technology Services Team. This position will be working on a team that has three major goals: Innovation, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement, on a 360 platform, responsible for Cloud Strategy including, but not limited to Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, Automation, and Governance.

Under the guidance of management, this intermediate-level role requires strong technical expertise in cloud technologies, scripting, front-end development, programming principles, and event-driven architecture. The position is responsible for driving development, implementation, and automation initiatives across diverse domains and projects.

This role requires strong technical expertise and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex systems. Candidates should be capable of defining project plans, implementing and maintaining cloud automation, and delivering services that meet client and business objectives within budget and on schedule.

Work Location: Hybrid- on-site limited only when needed. Must be able to work eastern standard time. 

Responsibilities:
 · While under the direction of management and other senior team members, the Intermediate Cloud Engineer maintains event-driven automation systems, participates in projects, provides end user and application support, contributes to team documentation, and continually contributes to process improvement.

· Plan and execute technical design on major new platforms and products, with a team of automation engineers.

· Leverage Azure automation-focused services such as Azure Function Apps, Automation Accounts, ARM templates and ARM template specs.

· Implement error handling, logging, and complex logic patterns for resiliency and code observability.

· Maintain high code quality standards through version control, code reviews, and adherence to PowerShell scripting best practices.

· Collaborate with core infrastructure and security teams to automate resource provisioning and required post-provisioning governance tasks.

· Contribute to front-end and back-end development initiatives.

· Accurately troubleshoot and remediate all automation platform issues.

· Continuously evaluate and adopt new Azure capabilities to enhance automation performance, scalability and security.

· Perform all other related duties as assigned, including responding to production issues as needed 24x7x365.

·Ideal candidate will have 2+ years Azure (IaaS, PaaS, & SaaS) with 3-5 years overall IT experience in mid to complex sized organizations.

· Microsoft Azure Administrator and/or AWS certification preferred.

· Must have PowerShell scripting abilities.

· Must have experience integrating with RESTful APIs.

· Must have front-end development experience (React/Angular preferred).

· Must have sound understanding of SQL, NoSQL, Web, Networking, and Security best practices.

· Must have a security mindset with an understanding of HIPAA and Data Privacy.

· Event-driven automation platform experience is a plus.

· Messaging system experience is a plus.

· Ability to understand and work with Azure Resource Manager Templates.

· Ability to multi-task, manage projects, and have a production support mentality.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
