About the Role

Join our R&D teams this summer and contribute to projects that shape the future of sustainable technologies and industrial solutions.

What you will do

As an R&D Summer Trainee, you can work in one of several exciting areas:

  • Fiber Technology Development: Support lab and pilot trials for Valmet’s 3D Fiber technology – a groundbreaking solution for sustainable molded fiber packaging.
  • Valve Technology: Participate in testing and development of intelligent valve positioners, including embedded software, user interfaces, and mechanical design. Tasks include test planning, execution, reporting, and maintaining test environments.
  • Pulp and Energy: Support research and development activities in energy and process engineering. Participate in experimental work, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Pilot Plant Operations: Engage in hands-on work such as pilot manufacturing and testing of press felts, process quality investigations, and competitor sample analysis.
  • General R&D and Engineering Support: product development and lifecycle management, including developing and improving testing and measurement methods, performing visual inspections for R&D projects, creating 3D designs, documenting and analyzing test results, and participating in development projects using tools such as MS Office, Aton PDM, and SolidWorks.

These positions are available in Inkeroinen, Jyväskylä, Tampere and Vantaa.

What do we expect from you?

You are Bachelor’s or Master’s a student in university or university of applied sciences in engineering field such as mechanical, automation, electrical, chemical, or process engineering. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and you can work both independently and as part of a team.

An interest in innovation and industrial applications is important. Good English skills are also required.
