Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to join its local council! Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines represents 41 counties within North Carolina. Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines, in partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA, has a mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for preparing, processing, and analyzing accounting information accurately and timely using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
This is a hybrid role, NOT a fully remote position. The selected candidate must reside in North Carolina.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead retail transaction processing to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Oversee account management and funding for 15-day camp programs.
- Lead review and approval of summer day camp expense reporting.
- Establish and enforce governance for employee credit cards.
- Monitor card activity for compliance, escalate exceptions, and drive corrective action.
- Ensure timely posting of credit card transactions to the general ledger.
- Oversee preparation and filing of monthly and semi-annual sales tax returns.
- Manage month-end close activities, including adjusting journal entries.
- Lead reconciliation of approximately twenty (20) bank accounts.
- Assist with troop banking processes and financial audits as requested.
Requirements
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum of six years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, including month-end close and account reconciliations; nonprofit experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience using general ledger/accounting software; familiarity with MIP Abila strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgment.
- Proven ability to take initiative, lead process improvements, and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Demonstrated alignment with GSNCCP and GSUSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, principles, and initiatives.
- Maintain an active GSUSA membership
