About the Role

Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicating with patients and scheduling patient appointments as well as confirming future appointments and phone confirmation of next day evals.
  2. Communicate visit cost to patients and explain as needed patient benefits.
  3. Collect patient payments and pull visit totals and batch collections at end of the day.
  4. Communicating with rehabilitation staff and therapist as needed to clarify referral requests and scheduling needs. 
  5. Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information and pull in-take packets for following day. Scan documents into EMR as needed. 
  6. Assists Rehabilitation Front Office Supervisor in special projects.
  7. Answer incoming Rehabilitation Department phone calls and check faxes.
  8. Assist in maintaining goals for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and treatment compliance through service to patient needs and request in the capacity of the position.
  9. Manage patient cancelations per department protocol including scheduling from wait list. 
  10. Assist in creating new patient charts.
  11. Confirm DME proof of delivery and ABN documents.
  12. Schedule progress notes due.
  13. Maintains patient confidentiality.

The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position.


Requirements

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of experience in out-patient rehabilitation preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Knowledge of computer systems and EMR software.
  2. Knowledge of phone systems.
  3. Knowledge of rehabilitation terminology and insurance/payor rules and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of referral processes and patient eligibility

SKILLS:

  1. Skill in effectively communicating with patients and staff.
  2. Skill in using a computer system/EMR.
  3. Skill in accurate documentation of work.

ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers and staff.
  2. Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  3. Ability to be a resource to patients and staff.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment. Some travel within community.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Demands of occasional kneeling, squatting, and overhead lifting.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. LOS employee handbook must be read, and acknowledgement receipt signed.
  2. OSHA Requirements and training.
  3. Adherence to LOS OIG Compliance Program
