Job Summary:

Train in order to conduct Radiographic Inspection and or Liquid Penetrant Testing and other Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using specific techniques on aerospace products. Develop a knowledge of products, manufacturing processes, NDT equipment, and NDT methods to process parts for inspection following specific operating procedures. Trains to develop the knowledge needed to interpret and evaluate test results.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand routers, procedures, specifications, drawings and other instructions as they pertain to NDT tasks
  • Process part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions
  • May work with X-Ray generating equipment and perform radiation area monitoring
  • Assist NDT Level II in test set-up, equipment operation, and performance of process control checks by following established instructions and record results
  • Train to interpret, evaluate and report evaluation results
  • Assist NDT Level II in filling out required logs and statistical data sheets
  • Clean NDT equipment and maintain the work area
  • Train in other NDT and related processes as required (i.e. Visual inspection, Hydrotest, Pneumatic Test, Swab Etch, etc.)
  • Assist NDT Level II to keep all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
  • Receive on-the-job training (OJT) and perform tasks as directed by Level II NDT Inspectors and the NDT Level III
  • Performs the above and other assigned duties in a safe, quality focused manner

Schedules:

  • 2nd (Night) Shift: Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-3am - includes 10% pay differential

Work Environment:

  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles and smoke. (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
  • Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
  • Must be able to work in a radiation monitored and lead products environment. (applies to X-Ray only)
  • Will be required to wear PPE applicable to the test method being used.
  • Able and willing to stand 90% of the time, stooping, bending, stretching, and engaging in awkward positioning.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Upon completion of training, able to be certified to NDT Level II in Liquid Penetrant Testing and/or X-Ray in accordance with NAS-410.

Upon completion of training, meet the documented Training & Experience Hours per NAS-410 per below:

  • Level II Liquid penetrant:
  • Minimum 32 Hrs classroom training
  • Minimum 400 Hrs experience
  • Radiographic Testing Level II (either film or non-film (digital) methods):
  • Minimum 80 Hrs classroom training
  • Minimum 800 Hrs experience
  • Both film and non-film methods strongly desired, requiring:
  • Minimum 120 Hrs classroom training
  • Minimum 1000 Hrs experience
  • Complete required radiation safety training (applies to X-Ray only)
  • Learn to use measuring devices including comparators, micrometers, scales, light meters, radiation survey meters and calipers
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings and be able to accurately document non-conformances as required
  • Successfully pass vision screen
  • Ability to speak, read and write English

Desired Characteristics:

  • Previous experience in a technical role a plus
  • Experience in manufacturing and specifically the aerospace industry a plus
  • Excellent safety, attendance and punctuality history
