Position Summary

The Structural Welder is responsible for fitting, aligning, and welding structural components used in the fabrication of supports, frames, and assemblies for piping systems and industrial applications. This position requires the ability to interpret blueprints and welding symbols, perform quality welds in accordance with codes and company standards, and maintain a high level of safety and craftsmanship in all tasks.


 Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine material requirements and welding procedures.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment to join structural components 
  • Position, align, and fit structural parts prior to welding, using clamps, squares, and measuring tools.
  • Inspect welds visually and dimensionally to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Repair or rework defective welds as needed.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure tools are in safe working condition.
  • Follow safety procedures for working with compressed gases, hot materials, and heavy equipment.
  • Collaborate with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure project deadlines and quality goals are met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards.  

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass company-administered welding tests 
  • Proficient in MIG, Flux Core, or Stick welding; TIG experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with welding carbon steel and stainless-steel materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret fabrication drawings, understand work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation in English required. 
  • Basic understanding of welding processes 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection

Work Environment 

Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule may include overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
