About the Role

Description

 This position supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading, philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Leader, Youth Development stewards the Y’s cause and advocates for the Y’s mission and strategic plan, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization. The Leader, Youth Development will oversee Youth Development programming within the South Region which includes the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA and various partners throughout the surrounding community. Youth Development programs include but are not limited to Youth Sports, Enrichment classes and Camps and Teen programming. Oversight of these programs is comprised of leading and training staff to provide high quality Youth Development programs. In addition to developing and managing successful financial plans for Youth Development Programs, Leader, Youth Development will engage with community stakeholders to identify prospective investors who have the capability to contribute to advance the Y’s strategic plan.

Essential Functions

· Hire, train, and supervise a team of non-exempt full time and part time staff

· Identify prospective communities and community partners for YMCA Youth Development programs

· Build relationships to expand YMCA of Columbia Willamette South Region’s geographic footprint and advance the organizations strategic plan

· Serve as a resource for members, community partners, staff and volunteers

· Ensure success of annual fiscal plans for the South Region Youth Development Programs

· Serve on/lead Association committees, cabinets, and task forces

· Innovate new programs to implement with South Region Youth Development Team

· Clear and prompt communication with supervisor, staff and participants is essential

· Ensure the culture and mission of the YMCA is reflective in our programs


Additional Functions:

· Participate in regional staff meetings and functions

· Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as necessary

· Ability to work in high stress situations, responding properly to critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergency situations

· Must be able to delegate appropriately, establish harmonious relations with staff team, volunteers, donors, school districts and new communities

· Ability to conduct and manage large programs within the South Region’s budget and goals

· Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation

Requirements

  •   Must pass YMCA background check
  • · CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment
  • · Reliable transportation to travel to sites across the South Region (Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, Newberg, etc.)
  • · 2 years of non-profit experience in varying capacities
  • · 2 years of supervisory experience in varying capacities
  • · YMCA Team Leader Certification must be completed within 2 years of hire

Preferred

 College degree in related field (Education, Business, etc.)
