Summary.
The Senior Utility IT Systems Administrator provides full-time technical support for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP) Power Division in Coolidge, Arizona. This role is responsible for administering, supporting, and enhancing electric utility information systems, including billing platforms, customer-facing systems, integrations, databases, and supporting IT infrastructure.
This position serves as the primary technical resource supporting SCIP’s electric utility operations and requires a strong background in enterprise systems administration, system integrations, data management, and secure handling of sensitive customer information. This opportunity is contingent upon award.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support electric utility information systems, including billing, utility management, customer, and payment platforms.
- Provide day-to-day server administration of a hybrid on-premise and cloud-based environment.
- Support system integrations and data exchanges using APIs.
- Administer customer access systems, payment workflows, and automated service platforms, including an IVR and online portals.
- Support data management, reporting, and the creation of custom MSSQL scripts for integrations with related systems such as GIS and operational technology platforms.
- Ensure secure handling, storage, and access control of systems containing personally identifiable information (PII).
- Provide general IT and network support for utility-related applications, hardware, and communications systems.
- Coordinate with BIA stakeholders and IT leadership to support system upgrades, enhancements, and issue resolution.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in IT systems administration or enterprise application support.
- Experience supporting complex, multi-system environments (billing, customer information systems, or enterprise platforms).
- Hands-on experience with system integrations, databases, and data exchange technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud-based systems, networks, and secure data environments.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data (PII or similar).
- Ability to work independently as the primary technical resource supporting a mission-critical system.
- Ability to pass required federal background investigations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting electric utilities (IT/OT) or other regulated infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with GIS integrations, payment systems, or customer service platforms.
- Prior experience in federal or tribal IT environments.
- Experience with Crystal Reports, SQL queries, UMS.net, NOVOTX Elements, Windows Server
Work Location & Schedule
- On-site at BIA SCIP facilities in Coolidge, Arizona
- Full-time
- Travel within the service area as needed
