JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the driver in maintaining discipline on the school bus; monitor and assist students while the bus is in operation.
  • Consult with and assist bus driver in documentation of student information, recordkeeping and completing routes.
  • Assuring seat belts, harnesses are secured as required.
  • Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students.
  • Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, directors, and parents concerning student background, medical problems and behavior as appropriate.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures.
  • Assure responsible adult meets students leaving the bus.
  • Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills with teachers, children, parents and other childcare workers.
  • Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.
  • Knowledge of transportation and childcare principles and procedures.
  • Obtain certification in CPR and First Aide within 6 month of employment; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate with young children at their level.
