JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the welfare, health, and safety of the children.
  • Knowing the number of children in the group to which they are assigned.
  • Assisting in executing all classroom and outdoor activities.
  • Welcomes each child as he/she arrives or leaves.
  • Assisting in mealtime activities.
  • Bathroom and hand washing supervision.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Assists in cleaning center thoroughly (including cleaning bathrooms and floors)
  • Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills with teachers, children, parents and other childcare workers.
  • Ability to be patient and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents.
  • Must participate in 20 hours per year of training through workshops, courses, conferences, and all in-service training relating to early childhood education.
  • Ensures and maintains the PQ Registry is up to date.
  • Submit and pass background check.
  • Obtain certification in CPR and First-Aid within 6 months of employment; must be maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.
  • Patient, compassionate attitude with a friendly, energetic disposition.
