This is an in-office position in Clearwater with potential of Hybrid (working remote 1 day per week).

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and assisting with reporting and audits. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position ensures that all accounting operations are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
  • Experience using accounting software systems. NetSuite preferred.
  • Education:      Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) or equivalent experience.

  

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the position include:

General Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end reconciliations for select balance accountants.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis as requested.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, and handle accruals, and reclassifications.
  • Organize financial data into accurate, usable records and maintain updated files.
  • Audit and approve ledger entries for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Participate in tax audits.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting functions.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication across the department.
  • Consistently meet production and quality standards in all assigned duties.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned by management.
  • Provide support and assistance to accounting staff as needed.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for management, auditors, and      regulatory agencies.

Month-End and Year-End Close

  • Support and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Generate reports and prepare journal entries to record monthly transactions and adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the billing team to clear up any errors with the activity data flowing from production software into      accounting software.
  • Conduct weekly variance analyses by comparing revenue and expense figures (by office) across the accounting software and      production software, confirming consistency and identifying discrepancies.

Financial Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls; assist with      internal and external audits.

Budgeting and Analysis

  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, monitor variances, and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

Tax Preparation

  • Gather data and assist in preparing tax returns and other regulatory filings.

  

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment. Hybrid work schedule.
