The Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing clinical programs to improve patient outcomes and ensure compliance with regulations. They supervise pharmacy staff and oversee medication distribution and dispensing processes.

Overview
Ensures accuracy of medicine handling, as well as an efficient workflow in providing patients with Pharmacy
needs, are of a consistently high priority.
Responsibilities
Design and implement therapeutic substitution programs that result in improved outcomes and decreased costs.
Design and implement clinical programs that will address antibiotic resistance in ARH facilities.
Develop clinical programs such as Coumadin clinics, lipid clinics, etc.—for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Aid in the development of clinical guidelines and pathways that result in optimum medication usage and
decreased system costs.
Assure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
Supervise clinical activities of ARH pharmacy staff.
Work with System Director of Clinical Pharmacy to design and implement a formulary that is effective, safe and
is cost efficient.
Supervises and performs the functions involved in the inpatient drug distribution program.
Supervises and performs the functions involved in the accurate and efficient dispensing of outpatient
prescriptions.
Supervises and performs the functions involved in the I.V. Admixture Program to include the accurate and
efficient preparation and delivery of total parenteral nutrition solutions, chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other
medications for intravenous/irrigation therapy.
Reviews and verifies medication orders for accuracy and completeness.
Monitors patient's drug therapy to detect/prevent drug interactions, contraindications, and other adverse
reactions.
Makes appropriate interventions to improve patient care.
Uses and is proficient in the operation of the pharmacy computer system.
Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical agents/products.
Obtains pertinent patient medication/medical information.
Provides current and accurate drug information to patients and health care professionals.
Maintains appropriate records and inventory on all drugs/pharmaceutical agents.
Monitors the proper storage and distribution of patient floor stock, controlled drugs, and emergency medications.
Communicates effectively with patients and health care professionals.
Trains and supervises pharmacy supportive personnel.
Serves on hospital committees as assigned.
Assumes the duties of the Director of Pharmacy when assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Pharm-D required
Licensed in the state of KY required.
