Position Summary
The Assistant Editor supports the Editing team by preparing high-quality “prep projects” for Presentation Editors. This role is primarily responsible for organizing and ingesting raw footage, building structured timelines in Adobe Premiere Pro, preparing and optimizing audio, managing product beauty shots and graphics, and ensuring all assets and tracking data are accurate and up to date.
The Assistant Editor plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency and consistency within the editing workflow and must be highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow and improve established processes. This position works closely with the Video Editing Manager, Supervisor, and Lead Editor to ensure daily workflow expectations and delivery goals are met.
After completion of the training period, the Assistant Editor is expected to complete 3–4 prep edits per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Prep-edit presentations for Presentation Editors using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Ingest, organize, and rename raw footage according to established file standards
- Create, nest, label, and maintain clean timelines with properly named shots and sequences
- Perform rough audio cuts and optimize audio tracks (including noise reduction and basic cleanup)
- Import, organize, and maintain product beauty shots for editing use
- Identify missing or incorrect assets and proactively reach out to appropriate contacts to obtain them
- Update and manage project progress in Trello, ensuring accurate status tracking
- Cross-check and validate product, pricing, and file data using Excel spreadsheets
- Support editing team workflows by ensuring assets are clean, organized, and ready for next-stage production
- Assist with Photoshop needs, including:
- Editing price graphics
- Creating masks using pen tools
- Supporting graphics needs for presentations, infomercials, and promos
- Work collaboratively with editors and production teams on shared projects
- Track work from start to finish with minimal supervision and high accountability
- Learn, follow, evaluate, and contribute to improvements in current editing and workflow processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Intermediate experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
- Intermediate experience with Adobe Photoshop, including:
- Masking with Pen Tool
- Graphic edits (especially pricing graphics)
- Familiarity with the Adobe Suite, including:
- Adobe Audition
- Media Encoder
- Comfortable working with project tracking systems (Trello or similar)
- Proficient in:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, especially with product names, pricing, and tracking data
- Strong communication skills, including ability to request missing assets and follow up proactively
- Ability to take direction, accept feedback quickly, and execute revisions accurately
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under time-sensitive deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in production environments involving:
- Presentations
- Infomercials
- Promotional or short-form commercial content
- Familiarity with structured workflows and standardized file naming systems
- Basic knowledge of audio cleanup and optimization techniques
Work Expectations
- Complete 3–4 prep edits per week after training period
- Work under the guidance of the Video Editing Manager, Supervisor, and Lead Editor
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across all assigned projects
- Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
